De vijfkoppige formatie Fontaines D.C. uit Dublin voelt een sterke band met de Ierse hoofdstad. Dat komt ook tot uiting op hun eerste drie studioalbums, die zich daarnaast kenmerken door rauwe vocalen, pulserende percussie en fraaie melodieën. Met hun derde album Skinty Fia (2022) scoren de Ieren voor het eerst een nummer 1-album. Niet alleen in eigen land maar ook in Schotland en Groot-Brittannië. Op hun vierde album richten ze hun blik wat meer op de buitenwereld. De plaat verschijnt onder de titel Romance (2024) en wordt vooraf gegaan door de single "Starburster".
